Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diet health service enhanced by intelligent medical treatment and tailored to elderly athletes' needs, within an integrated care framework.

Methods: This study involved 100 elderly athletic patients from our hospital's care services between January 2019 and January 2021. They were randomly divided into two groups of 50: a control group receiving conventional elderly care, and an observation group receiving a specialized regime that combined a TCM diet, intelligent medical treatments, and elderly care. This integrated approach was designed to support both general health and physical fitness, targeting older athletes specifically. Service effectiveness was evaluated over one year through comparisons of Activities of Daily Living (ADL), Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), SF-36 health survey scores, and satisfaction with elderly care services.

Results: Post-service, significant improvements were noted in ADL, MMSE, and SF-36 scores across both groups. However, the observation group, which integrated TCM dietary principles and intelligent medical treatment, showed significantly higher scores in these areas than the control group (P < 0.05). Furthermore, satisfaction levels regarding elderly care services were significantly higher in the observation group (94.00%) compared to the control group (72.00%) (P < 0.05).

Conclusion: Integrating a traditional Chinese medicine diet with intelligent medical treatment within elderly care significantly enhances not only the general health, daily living abilities, and mental status of elderly patients but also caters effectively to the specific needs of elderly athletes, improving their overall quality of life and satisfaction with care services. This approach underscores the potential of specialized dietary and health service models in boosting physical fitness and health outcomes in elderly athletic populations.
