Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the impact of the Oren self-care model on self-care abilities and independent living in athletes post-hip arthroplasty, assessing its potential benefits for recovery and return to sports.

Methods: This prospective study analyzed clinical data from 100 athletes who underwent hip arthroplasty between February 2021 and November 2022. Participants were divided into two groups: 50 received care according to the Oren self-care model, and 50 received standard nursing care. The outcomes of these different nursing approaches were compared.

Results: The group treated with the Oren self-care model showed significantly higher scores in hip function, self-care capabilities, and quality of life at 1, 3, and 6 months post-operation compared to the control group (p<0.05). Additionally, this group demonstrated greater psychological resilience and superior self-care skill scores following the intervention (p<0.05). Satisfaction with nursing care was also notably higher in the Oren self-care group (p<0.05).

Conclusion: Implementing the Oren self-care model in post-hip arthroplasty care for athletes significantly enhances their ability to live independently and recover hip joint function. This model promotes more effective recovery and could expedite the return to athletic activities, underscoring the importance of specialized post-operative care frameworks in sports medicine
