Abstract

Objective: To explore the effect of psychological nursing based on psychological capital theory on enhancing anxiety, depression and sleep quality of patients with ICU. Methods: A total of 100 patients with ICU treated in our hospital from August 2020 to August 2021 were enrolled. The patients were assigned into control group and study group by using single-blind-random trial. The former group received routine nursing and the latter group received psychological nursing based on psychological capital theory. The nursing satisfaction, family empowerment psychological nursing score, family member psychological elasticity score, anxiety and depression score, sleep quality score and quality of life score were compared. Results: First of all, we compared the nursing satisfaction. The nursing satisfaction of the study group was higher compared to the control group (P<0.05). Secondly, we compared the scores of empowering psychological nursing. The total scores of self-support, emotional support, professional support and empowering psychological nursing in the study group were higher compared to the control group (P<0.05). In terms of the family members, the total scores of tenacity, self-improvement, optimism and psychological resilience in the study group were higher compared to the control group (P<0.05). There exhibited no significant difference in anxiety and depression scores before nursing (P>0.05); After nursing, the anxiety and depression scores decreased. With regard to the anxiety and depression scores of the study group were lower compared to the control group at 1 day, 3 days, 5 days and 7 days after nursing (P<0.05). Regarding the sleep quality score, there exhibited no significant difference before nursing (P>0.05). After nursing, the sleep quality scores decreased. In terms of the sleep quality scores of the study group at 1 day, 3 days, 5 days and 7 days after nursing were lower compared to the control group (P<0.05). Finally, we compared the scores of life quality. Before nursing, there exhibited no significant difference (P>0.05); After nursing, the scores of life quality decreased. Moreover, the scores of physiological function, psychological function, social function and health self-cognition in the study group were lower compared to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Through the psychological nursing of ICU patients and their family members based on psychological capital theory, the unhealthy emotions such as anxiety and depression have been significantly attenuated. Meanwhile, it can also effectively promote the sleep quality of patients and strengthen the improvement of the disease.
