Objective: To look into the therapeutic effectiveness of Si 'er Tiaowei Decoction in combination with acupuncture in the treatment of functional dyspepsia, and to monitor the efficiency and safety of this approach. Methods: Patients diagnosed with FD and admitted to our hospital between June 2018 and September 2020 who exhibited symptoms of the syndrome of hepatic qi and stomach differentiation were randomly assigned to either the observation group or the control group (60 patients in each group). Acupuncture and Si 'er Tiaowei Decoction were used to treat the observation group. Those in the control group were given tablets of domperidone to take orally. Clinical effectiveness, TCM syndrome ratings, quality of life, and the occurrence of adverse events were compared between the two groups after four sessions of therapy. Results: Total effective rate was substantially greater in the observation group than in the control group (χ2=10.953, P=0.001). The symptoms of epigastric distension, epigastric discomfort, eating less, staying less, nausea, and vomiting were dramatically alleviated after treatment, with the ratings of the observation group being significantly lower than those of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the observation group reported a considerably greater quality of life compared to the control group (P<0.05), and they also reported a significantly decreased occurrence of adverse effects. Conclusion: When used in conjunction with acupuncture, the Si 'er Tiaowei decoction is more effective, has a quicker start of effect, and is safer in the treatment of functional dyspepsia.
