Abstract

Objective: To investigate the impact of aromatherapy on managing anxiety in young athletes before competitions. Methods: This study involved 120 young athletes undergoing elective competitions, divided into three groups based on aroma concentration: control, low, and high. Assessment tools used were the Cm-YPAS for anxiety levels and physiological measures like mean arterial pressure (MAP), systolic blood pressure (SBP), heart rate (HR), and sleep quality. Results: Both low and high concentration aromatherapy significantly reduced anxiety scores compared to the control group. Physiological measures (MAP, SBP, HR) were improved in the aromatherapy groups. Sleep quality scores were significantly better in both aromatherapy groups compared to the control, with no significant difference between the two concentrations. Conclusion: Aromatherapy with 2% and 3% concentrations effectively managed anxiety, improved physiological responses, and enhanced sleep quality in young athletes during competitive events, offering a non-invasive method to enhance sports performance.
