Abstract

Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of Kangfuxin solution combined with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) in managing peptic ulcers, particularly focusing on athletic individuals who may have unique recovery needs. Methods: A systematic search was conducted for randomized controlled trials examining the combination of Kangfuxin solution and PPIs for peptic ulcer treatment in athletes, using databases such as PubMed, PMC, and CNKI. Selected articles underwent meticulous screening based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, with the quality of each study assessed using the Cochrane Collaboration's bias assessment tool. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.4.1 software. Results: The search yielded 75 studies, with 10 meeting the criteria for inclusion in the meta-analysis. These studies encompassed 553 athletes in the experimental group and 514 in the control group. The meta-analysis indicated significant improvement in symptoms such as abdominal pain [95%CI (-0.46, -0.28), P<0.00001], abdominal distension [95%CI (-0.38, -0.06), P=0.008], belching [95%CI (-0.26, -0.11), P<0.00001], and nausea [95%CI (-0.95, -0.10), P=0.02]. Moreover, there was a noticeable increase in treatment efficacy [95%CI (9.84, 22.05), P<0.00001], a decrease in treatment failure [95%CI (-13.01, -6.21), P<0.00001], and a reduced rate of recurrence [95%CI (-20.03, -7.07), P<0.0001] among athletes. Conclusion: The combination of Kangfuxin solution and PPIs significantly enhances the treatment outcome for peptic ulcers in athletes, reducing symptoms and recurrence rates, thus supporting its broader application in sports medicine for improving athletes' health and performance.
