Abstract

The treatment of sepsis remains a challenge and the new definition of sepsis (sepsis -3) defines sepsis as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by infection. The management of patients with sepsis consists of early infection control, hemodynamics, and organ support. Hemodynamic support includes fluid resuscitation and vasoactive drugs. Norepinephrine is currently the preferred vasopressor drug. Although the prognosis of sepsis and septic shock has improved greatly compared with the previous period, the higher mortality rate is still unacceptable. In recent years, blood purification techniques have been applied to the treatment of patients with sepsis and septic shock, but the level of evidence is low and still needs to be further confirmed by high-quality research.
