EFFECTS OF INTERVENTIONS ON THEORY OF MIND ABILITY IN CHILDREN WITH AUTISM: A META-ANALYSIS OF RESEARCH IN CHINA

Abstract

In order to evaluate the effect of intervention methods on the theory of mind ability of children with autism in China, relevant Chinese literature was retrieved from the three major databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang and VIP in the past ten years (2013-2023), and comprehensive meta-analysis Ⅲ and Tau calculation method were used a meta-analysis was performed on the final included 6 true experiments or quasi-experiments and 7 single-case experimental designs (covering 159 children with autism).The results showed that various intervention methods had good effects on the theory of mind ability of children with autism, intervention time and period of study have a significant impact on the intervention effect. Future meta-analysis research needs to enrich and improve the number of included literature and analysis methods.
