STUDY ON HEALTH CHARACTERISTICS AND HEALTH NEEDS OF ELDERLY DIABETIC PATIENTS IN COMMUNITY

Objective To explore the health characteristics and health needs of elderly diabetic patients in community. Methods: 200 elderly patients with diabetes mellitus from January 2023 to July 2024 were retrospectively selected as the research objects, and their health characteristics and health needs were investigated by questionnaire. The SF-36 scores of elderly diabetic patients in community; SF-36 scores of elderly diabetic patients in different age communities; SF-36 scores of elderly diabetic patients in different gender communities; SF-36 scores of elderly diabetic patients in community with different disease course; Whether there are elderly diabetic patients with cerebrovascular diseases in the community with SF-36 scores; Health needs of elderly diabetic patients in community were observed. Results: The social function score was the highest and the body pain score was the lowest in the elderly diabetic patients in the community. With the increase of age, the physiological function scores of elderly diabetic patients in community decreased gradually (P<0.05). The social function scores of female elderly diabetic patients in community were significantly higher than those of male patients (P<0.05). With the prolongation of disease course, the vitality, emotional function and mental health scores of elderly diabetic patients in community gradually decreased (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the scores of all dimensions of the SF-36 scale among elderly diabetic patients in communities with or without cerebrovascular diseases (P>0.05). Elderly diabetic patients in the community have higher health needs in terms of disease and treatment methods, diet guidance, rest and exercise, emotional guidance, and traditional Chinese medicine characteristic technology. Conclusion: The main characteristics of elderly diabetic patients in the community are physical pain, and their health characteristics are related to age, gender and course of disease. In addition, patients have high health needs in terms of illness and treatment, diet guidance, rest and exercise, emotional guidance, and traditional Chinese medicine characteristic technology, which has certain reference value.
