Abstract

Objective: To outline the perioperative nursing strategies tailored for female athletes undergoing autogenous lymph node transplantation combined with lymphangiovenous anastomosis to treat upper limb lymphedema following breast cancer surgery. This summary emphasizes specialized care approaches that consider the unique rehabilitation needs and athletic goals of this population.

Methods: This review focuses on the comprehensive perioperative nursing care framework, which includes preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative care specifically designed for female athletes. Key aspects covered include detailed rehabilitation training tailored to athletes' requirements for maintaining physical condition and competitive readiness, alongside discharge guidelines that integrate sport-specific recovery protocols.

Results: Effective perioperative nursing, when tailored for athletic patients, not only addresses the immediate surgical recovery needs but also supports the long-term athletic and health goals of female athletes. Rehabilitation training is customized to gradually reintroduce athletic activity while managing lymphedema symptoms effectively. Discharge planning provides athletes with clear guidelines on resuming training, recognizing lymphedema symptoms, and managing them proactively.

Conclusion: Perioperative nursing for autogenous lymph node transplantation combined with lymphangiovenous anastomosis in female athletes requires a specialized approach that accommodates the demands of their sport and their recovery from breast cancer. This strategy ensures optimal treatment outcomes and supports a return to athletic activities, contributing significantly to both physical recovery and psychological well-being.
