Abstract

Swimming is a whole-body sport, which has a significant effect on improving cardiopulmonary function and relieving stress. However, in the process of learning swimming, beginners often have psychological phenomena such as fear of water and anxiety. This paper explores the causes of psychological anxiety among beginner swimmers under the perspective of self-efficacy, using questionnaire and mathematical statistics, based on the self-efficacy scale and psychological anxiety scale, with 120 undergraduate college students who are beginner swimmers as the subjects and analyzing the data by using the software such as Amos and Bootstrap. The results showed that self-efficacy was a significant positive predictor of swimming learning effectiveness and students' psychological anxiety (β=0.189,0.492, p<0.01). Self-efficacy, psychological anxiety and learning effectiveness are important predictors of learning engagement in beginner swimmers, and self-efficacy not only directly and positively predicts the level of learning engagement in beginner swimmers. Self-efficacy can also positively influence the learning effectiveness of beginner swimmers by regulating students' psychological anxiety under the regulation mechanism of self-efficacy. Therefore, improving self-efficacy, reducing students' psychological anxiety and stimulating autonomous motivation are effective strategies for intervening in the learning effectiveness of beginner swimmers in colleges and universities, which are of practical significance for improving the physical and mental health of college students.
