A STUDY ON THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS OF CHINESE MUSIC & DANCE——BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS BASED ON A&HCI

Purpose/Significance: From the perspective of Music & Dance as a first-level discipline in the Arts, this study conducts a comprehensive and systematic evaluation and analysis of the competitiveness of China’s Music & Dance from the perspective of international academia and the standpoint of “one China”, and determines the current international academic status of the competitiveness of Chinese music and dance, so as to enhance the international competitiveness of China’s Music & Dance. It provides a reliable reference for China’s Music & Dance academic research to go out strategy and improve Chinese cultural discourse. At the same time, it also provides reliable theoretical support for the “artistic” transformation of the international dissemination of Chinese culture in the new era to realize the “circle breaking”. Process/Method: This paper takes the Music & Dance documents included in AHCI database from 1979 to 2022 as the research object, and uses the research method of bibliometrics to construct the international competitiveness evaluation system of music and dance from the four indicators of literature production, literature influence, literature development and literature diffusion, so as to determine the international academic status of China’s Music & Dance. Results/Conclusion: The study found that within the scope of statistics, the distribution of international competitiveness of world Music & Dance is extremely uneven, showing a pattern dominated by the West. In this context, the competitiveness of China’s Music & Dance is in the middle level of the world, and Asia ranks second. Compared with the developed countries in North America, Oceania, Europe and other regions, there is a big gap. In terms of production and development, China’s Music & Dance are in the upper and middle reaches, their influence is in the middle reaches, and their diffusion is in the lower reaches.Therefore, based on the interrelationship of the 4 major indicators, it is suggested that the international academic competitiveness of Music & Dance in China should be enhanced from the following aspects: encouraging the policy orientation of international papers, formulating the assessment mechanism of quality priority, expanding the scope of international cooperation and establishing multiple funding sources, paying attention to the intersection and integration of disciplines, and diversifying the ways of contribution.
