Objective: This study aims to analyze the clinical application value of microscopic differentiation of endoscopic gastric mucosa phases in the treatment of chronic gastritis, focusing on its efficacy in athletes. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 72 athletes diagnosed with chronic gastritis between June 2021 and March 2023. These patients were divided into two groups based on the treatment approach: the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation group (control group) and the microscopic differentiation group based on endoscopic gastric mucosa phases (observation group). Both groups received tailored TCM treatments based on their diagnostic categories. The study assessed treatment efficacy, adverse reaction rates, Traditional Chinese Medicine symptom scores, quality of life scores, levels of plasma gastrointestinal hormones, and serum cytokine levels post-treatment. Results: The observation group exhibited significantly better treatment efficacy and lower rates of adverse reactions compared to the control group (P<0.05). Additionally, the observation group showed significant improvements in TCM symptom scores and quality of life scores (P<0.05). Furthermore, this group had more favorable plasma gastrointestinal hormone levels and lower serum cytokine levels post-treatment (P<0.05). Conclusion: Microscopic differentiation of endoscopic gastric mucosa phases significantly enhances the clinical outcomes in athletes with chronic gastritis. It not only improves the efficacy of treatments and quality of life but also minimizes adverse reactions, making it a valuable clinical approach in sports medicine.
