Abstract

Objective: To explore the impact of nursing guidance combined with home care support on the patency rate of arteriovenous fistulas in hemodialysis patients. Methods: This study included 200 patients undergoing chronic maintenance hemodialysis at our hospital from September 2020 to September 2022. The patients were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 100 patients in each group. The control group received standard nursing care, while the observation group received additional nursing guidance and home care support. The primary patency rate, primary assisted patency rate, and secondary patency rate of arteriovenous fistulas were measured, alongside the blood flow rate one-year post-operation and the incidence of complications. Results: The observation group showed higher rates of primary patency, primary assisted patency, and secondary patency than the control group (P < 0.05). Additionally, arteriovenous fistula blood flow in the observation group was significantly better than in the control group one year after surgery (P < 0.05), and the incidence of complications was significantly lower. Patient satisfaction in the observation group was also higher compared to the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Nursing guidance combined with home care support significantly improves the patency rates of arteriovenous fistulas in patients undergoing chronic maintenance hemodialysis, reduces complications, and enhances patient satisfaction.
