Abstract

Objective: This study explores the design of preschool physical education courseware using virtual reality (VR) technology, aimed at overcoming the limitations of traditional multimedia courseware that often fail to maintain young children’s attention and engagement during learning. Methods: The approach incorporates an analysis of the basic psychological and physiological characteristics of preschool children’s learning behaviors to guide the development of VR-based educational tools. These tools are designed to cultivate attention and enhance language acquisition through immersive, story-driven life scenarios. By embedding physical activities within these scenarios, the courseware aims to engage multiple senses and encourage interactive learning. Results: Implementation of VR in physical education courseware for preschoolers was evaluated through comparative studies with traditional methods. The VR-based courseware significantly improved classroom focus, stimulated interest across a broader range of students, and enhanced overall learning outcomes. Children exposed to VR scenarios demonstrated greater physical engagement and retained educational content more effectively than those taught with conventional multimedia. Conclusion: The use of virtual reality technology in preschool physical education offers a promising alternative to traditional teaching methods, providing a more dynamic and immersive learning environment. This technology not only captivates young learners but also effectively supports the development of physical skills and cognitive abilities. The findings suggest that VR can be a valuable tool in early childhood physical education, potentially reshaping how physical activity and learning are integrated at a foundational level. Further research is recommended to explore long-term impacts and optimize VR content for diverse educational settings.
