Objectives:To understand the current status of puerpera and family members' perceptions of postpartum depression (PPD). To compare the differences in the current status of puerpera and family members' perceptions of postpartum depression and to analyse the factors influencing them. Methods:This study was a cross-sectional survey study, in which puerperae and their families who gave birth in a tertiary Puerpera and children's hospital in Chengdu from December 2021 to March 2022 were selected as the study population. The survey included social demographic data of puerpera and their families, Social Support Rating Scale, Family adaptation, partnership, growth, affection, resolve and Postpartum depression knowledge questionnaire. Results: The cognition of postpartum depression was in the medium level (7.27±1.72 vs. 6.61±1.94). Puerpera cognitive level was higher than that of family members (t=3.427, P=0.001). Puerpera and family members had the least understanding of genetic susceptibility to postpartum depression (0.18±0.38 vs. 0.15±0.35), followed by onset time and hormone reduction. Univariate analysis showed that place of residence, knowledge of PPD and medical related background or not were the factors affecting cognition of postpartum depression (P < 0.05). Education level and place of residence were the factors affecting family members' cognition of postpartum depression (P < 0.05). The results of multiple linear regression showed that the place of residence and have attended any educational training or seminars related to PPD were the main factors affecting puerpera cognition (P < 0.05). Residence was the main factor affecting the cognition of family members (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Parturients and their family members' cognition of postpartum depression was at a medium level, and the cognitive level of parturients was higher than that of their family members. Place of residence and have attended any educational training or seminars related to PPD were the main factors affecting puerpera cognition. Place of residence is the main factor affecting the cognition of family members. It is necessary to strengthen the knowledge education and training of postpartum depression for puerpera and their family members from the beginning of pregnancy, encourage their family members to participate in health education together with the puerpera. In terms of postpartum depression, emphasis should be placed on the knowledge related to the disease, and personalized education should be conducted according to the place of residence of the puerpera and their family members.
