SHOULDER JOINT MECHANICS IN PITCHERS OF THE CIENFUEGOS ELEPHANTS BASEBALL TEAM
Abstract
The objective of this study was to analyze the mechanics of the shoulder joint in pitchers from the Elefantes de Cienfuegos baseball team in order to improve the pitching technique, avoid injuries and increase the individual performance of these athletes. A sample of five relief pitchers was selected from the cast's pitching staff. Kinematic and kinetic data of the upper and lower extremities were collected in said throwers, using Kinovea software version 0.95. According to the information provided by the software, athletes must improve the action of their arms to achieve greater speed, increase sports performance and avoid injuries to the scapular-humeral joint in the medium and long term. From the selected sample, two pitchers perform the correct mechanics, respecting the range of movement of the joint. The recommendation is to carry out this type of study in minor categories to correct the deficiencies found from an early age and supports the use of Kinovea as an easy to use tool.
